Reviews: Lake in Essen

After looking over a well-known discount portal voucher for the restaurant "lake" had bought, it gave us last month to redeem the selfsame friends live there.
Upon entering the location we were not being received, but had We wait almost 10 minutes, until the waiter came out of the kitchen and brought us to our reserved table - this also with a break because complained "the move" another guest on the lack of temperature with the sauce.
Since we had a set menu (wild mushroom soup, goose with red cabbage, dumplings, chestnuts and baked apple with vanilla sauce, chocolate mousse) was accounted for in view of the menu.
The soup came fairly quickly and was a solid average.
also the main course was not long in coming. My goose was very dry, the other three were, however, satisfied with her. On the sauce, served in sauce boats was, there was a thick layer of skin. The dumplings had a strange consistency, but the taste was ok, the red cabbage was delicious and the chestnuts and baked apple, I can write anything negative. Extremely tasty, it was not, however.
The mousse was not then served for unspecified reasons, for dessert there was ice cream with a shot and eggnog sauce. OK, but unspectacular.
The waiter was friendly and eager and up to the waiting period at the beginning sufficiently present.
corresponds to the design of the restaurant 70's chic and gives the impression that was renovated not too long time. Throughout Establishment, it smelled a bit musty.
The view over the Ruhr valley and the reservoir is designed really nice because we were in the lake after dark, we had "only" Kettwig with its lights in sight.
Price Technically it was ok thanks to the voucher, we would have to pay full price, it definitely would have been too expensive. (2 of 5 stars)
